The area to the left of this photograph is going to be redeveloped in the Spring. What sorts of playground equipment would you like to see? Tell a School Councillor so they can let Mr Devlin know what you want!

OLV and Fab Mag are in the News… Again!

Olv has been in the Keighley news in four separate articles these past two weeks and we are very proud!

The “Our Reply To Lithuania” post, “The Catholic Heritage Day” post, and a review of the dog dirt have been inserted into the Keighley news. This is the fourth time in the past two weeks that we have been in the newspaper!

“Our Reply To Lithuania” is all about how we are contacting a school in Lithuania and how we have sent them a video of us. Click HERE to see the video that Lithuania sent to us and click HERE to see the video that we sent them.

“The Catholic Heritage Day ” post is about when we went to the Keighley library and interviewed people about their childhood and what school they went to. Click HERE to see the “Catholic Heritage Day” post.

The Dog Dirt article isn’t on the website but it is about all the dog dirt around the school (as you can probably guess). Pupils from Our Lady of Victories Primary School met with a ward councillor and a parent to discuss the problem. There is going to be a competition and people in Olv are going to design posters warning people not to let their dog make a mess and to just leave it.  The winner will get £30. Second place is £20 and third is £10. The competition is going to be judged by Mr Devlin and some of the councillors. Good luck to everyone!

They also went on the tube it was a massive experience for year 5 as they took on the wonderful  underground Mrs Murray got left behind  with 5 children as the tube doors closed very fast!. At the end we got to have  chips from MacDonalds! they were really nice!. But the best part of all was the London eye. Here is a video of what happened in London. What we like about Vimeo?

We like Vimeo because it is saved the progress what we have done over the years. Some are funny and some are just plain good. Most are embarassing as people mess up but thats what we like about our videos!

The most funniest moment was when we were on the tube in London. When Mrs Murray  was going on to the tube the doors shut as quick as lightning! with Mrs Murray dealing with 5 pupils all by her self!. This is one of the best videos on vimeo for me. I really like Vimeo  because it is really easy to transfer videos from the iPad iPod and much more. Here is one more Video from our beautiful Vimeo site. It will be showing you all about Year 3s wonderful trip to the rich Chester!

Using our   Video channel is also great because we get to see what pupils in all of the classes are doing. Before we had the video channel we’d not really find out how good other classes were – now we can see them having a great time!

You can see the full list of our Videos on our Vimeo Homepage here.

Fab Mag in Keighley News

This article will talk about Our Lady Of Victory primary school website called Fab Mag which was in the Keighley News.

Our Lady of Victories “Fab mag” website is featured in the Keighley news this week and we are very pleased that we are in it. We are all very proud.

Fab Mag is an online newspaper written by children at OLV.

On Fab Mag we are allowed to write about anything we want in any way that we want. We get the oppurtunity to show of what we can write and it is very fun. I enjoy writing articles and everyone else does to.

When we write on Fab Mag we also get to use other technology such as:

ipod

mac book

normal camera and many other things to upload pictures and videos.

We make sure that there are serious articles about things that have happened in school, as well as fun articles and features that are of interest to us. Soon we’ll be having video news on the website, using our Green Screen to add cool backgrounds!

The article about our news website is on the centre page of the Keighley News. We think a copy will go on the Keighley News website next week.

The new media club kicks off Fab Mag production

On Tuesday the 1st of May the OVL News Magazine Team met to kick off production of the new FAB MAG.  The team plans to launch the magazine to the big wide world on Friday the 1st of June.

The team of fifteen children from Our Lady of Victories met in the library for this

Production meeting white boardfirst production meeting which was well organised and highly professional according to Mr Moorhouse the ICT guru.  The first task was to confirm the magazine’s editorial departments which are sport, history, technology fashion and puzzles.  You can see team photos on the new sections on the Fab Mag.

Work got underway with the design of the new banner which was first designed on paper and then handed over to the graphic designer for working up on the PC.  The team wanted real children to be incorporated into the design and so a photo shoot was organised.

The photo-shoot required the use of the blue/green screen bought by the school for video and photography projects.  This pop up screen has blue on one side and green on the other. The idea is that the primary colour background is easy to replace in photoshop.  The screen is a bit like a pop up tent and was hilarious to pack away!

Among the things the children will be learning will be publishing, internet safety, news writing and working as a team.
